About us

Dogs are miracles with paws.

That quote, attributed to the best-selling author and artist Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy, accurately describes the feelings of the founders and volunteers of and contributors to PURPLE HEART RESCUE. We love all creatures, of course, but dogs hold a special place in our hearts, and our organization was established to make placement of abandoned, abused, neglected, aging and otherwise homeless canines a top priority in Washington state.

PURPLE HEART RESCUE counts on volunteers to help with the rescuing of dogs who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and forgotten. The organization also relies on an ever-expanding roster of approved foster homes to take in the animals we help. We are fortunate to have several professionals donate their time and skills to the cause. However, in many circumstances medical care for our animals can grow to be quite expensive due to surgical procedures and medications.

Therefore, we count on those who open their hearts to help by donating needed funds. These funds are applied to medical expenses as well as to help by for food.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
